12.-22. oCtober 2026
Between 12 and 22 October 2026, Ljubljana will host the sixth edition of CELLOFEST LJUBLJANA, a celebration of the cello and its artists. This thematic music festival is entirely dedicated to the cello and consists of two parts: a concert series and workshops/masterclasses led by distinguished Slovenian and international pedagogues. Cellofest Ljubljana is one of the very few festivals of its kind in this part of Europe. Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, is renowned for its beautiful architecture and vibrant cultural atmosphere.
This year’s Cellofest will feature nine concerts at selected venues across Ljubljana, three masterclasses with renowned international cello professors, and the now traditional three-day workshop for 100 of the youngest cellists from all over Slovenia.
Once again, Cellofest will present the cello in many different forms: as a solo instrument, as a solo instrument with orchestra and piano, as an innovative instrument in popular and alternative music, and as an ensemble instrument. This year’s festival will feature outstanding international cellists such as Marc Coppey, Natalie Clein, Peter Gregson and Jeremias Fliedl, alongside leading Slovenian cellists.
As in previous years, Cellofest also encourages collaborative music-making between distinguished Slovenian and international cellists, further enriching this unique celebration of the cello in Ljubljana for performers and audiences alike.
