Between 12 and 22 October 2026, Ljubljana will host the sixth edition of CELLOFEST LJUBLJANA, a celebration of cellists and the cello. This thematic music festival is dedicated entirely to the cello and consists of two parts: a concert series and workshops/masterclasses with distinguished Slovenian and international pedagogues.
This year’s Cellofest will include nine concerts at selected venues, three masterclasses with renowned international cello professors, and a three-day workshop for 100 of the youngest cellists from across Slovenia.
Once again, Cellofest will present the cello in many different forms: as a solo instrument, as a solo instrument with orchestra and piano, as an innovative instrument in popular and alternative music, and as an ensemble instrument. The festival will feature outstanding Slovenian and international cellists. As in previous years, Cellofest also encourages collaborative music-making among leading Slovenian cellists, enriching this celebration of the cello in Ljubljana for performers and audiences alike.
